Developing and defining basic SCADA system concepts

An attempt is made to develop and define the basic concepts of supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems. A SCADA system is complex, and the investment for the organization is a long-term one. Therefore, an electric utility organization must proceed cautiously and with a logical series of steps to ensure that the most cost-effective system that best meets the utility's needs both now and in the future is procured. These steps are developed and defined in detail. These steps have been applied in many SCADA system procurements and have resulted in successful system installations for each organization.<<ETX>>
