A Review on Robust Assembly Line Balancing Approaches

Abstract This paper reviews problems, approaches, models and algorithms on robust assembly line balancing problems and discuss some promising research directions. The scope covers single criterion and multi-criteria optimization problems, exact and heuristic solution methods. Simulation models, new modeling approaches, decision support systems (DSS) and their integration in product life cycle management and in decision making in enterprises are included. The analysis and discussion could help identifying open problems and research topics that have industrial applications.
