Polarimetric SAR tomography of natural environments using hybrid spectral estimators

Considering the distribution of coherent scatterers in the vertical direction, this paper proposes a novel method for jointly detection and localization of coherent scatterers embedded in natural environment. Using single polarization data sets, the effectiveness of this method is demonstrated in this paper and this method will be extended to polarimetric version. The detection and localization of coherent scatterers have two advantages: 1) the lowest coherent scatterer provides the elevation of subcanopy ground; 2) the highest coherent scatterer provides the elevation of targets embedded in the forest. The detection of coherent scatterers over all the test site will be shown in the future.
