Smart-phones are expected to be used as versatile applications including interface terminals for controlling mobile robots. In this paper, a smart-phone based ubiquitous interface for mobile robots is presented. Android is used for developing the smart-phone application of the interface for controlling the robots. In the interface environment, we use remote control mode using real images of the camera of the robot and control buttons, and autonomous control mode including the map of the environment and a function for directing the target position in the map. Experimental results shows the proposed interface application was applied to a smart-phone of Motrola, Motoroi, and its feasibility.
