Uncontrolled fires— Specific burning rates and induced air velocities

Laboratory experiments were conducted to demonstrate that a large fire area will, by virtue of its size alone, induce winds which accelerate specific burning rates into those observed in fire storms. Although the presumed correlations were not borne out by the test results, several interesting observations were made.
