부산지역 공공도서관의 시각장애인 편의시설 개선방안

The purpose of the research is to evaluate public library facilities in Busan for visually impaired persons in order to suggest directions of the design. The study is divided into four areas; vertical moving line, horizontal moving line, restroom facilities, and the others facilities. The observation and taking picture were used for research methods. The finding indicated that 1)the vertical moving line evaluation revealed that horizontal handrail and Braille in the stair are not appropriately provided, C and L libraries do not have slop which is used as going into main gate, and 7 libraries from 12 still do not have elevators. Therefore, visually impaired persons have problems going upstair. 2) Horizontal moving line evaluation disclosed that handrails on the corridor are not afforded properly, and Braille on the main gate is not supplied. 3) Restroom evaluation unveiled that Braille on the tap and et al. are not supplied. 4) the other facility evaluation uncovered that tactile panels, pictograms, a sculpture which allows people to touch, helps orientation, a bell or other sound devices are not provided. The conclusion is that firstly, the facilities for visually impaired person should be managed well continuously. Secondly, horizontal handrail, Braillle on the handrail, handrail radiation, and et al. can be improved in low cost and short period. Therefore, the need for immediate improvement of the facilities for the visually impaired person is necessary.
