The effectiveness of sand as a filter medium.

Sand fillers were studied under a variety of conditions to determine their usefulness as a filter medium for aerosols in low-velocity air streams. Ruthenium and iodine were removed from the vapor stream from a boillng mixture containing these isotopes, and it is thought that sand may be used to filter aerosols from either dry or moist gas streams.
