Nonrepeatable radial and axial runout of 5 1/4

Radial and axial nonrepeatable runout of a 5-1/4-in disk drive spindle is investigated in the time and frequency domain using statistical analysis. The runout is measured using high-resolution capacitance probes, and the correlation between radial and axial nonrepeatable runout is determined. In addition, the relation between nonrepeatable runout and bearing design parameters is investigated. >
