The challenge brought together a group of researchers both from academia and industry working on context-aware movie recommendations. The event took place during the last day of the 2011 ACM Recommender Systems conference on October 27th 2011.
There were nine presentations and a keynote by Alexander Tuzhilin, Professor of Information Systems at Stern School of Business, NYU. The topic was "Context-Aware Recommender Systems: The Next Frontier".
The winner of the CAMRa2011 challenge, Identifying Users From Their Rating Patterns by Jose Bento, Nadia Fawaz, Andrea Montanari and Stratis Ioannidis was announced during the workshop. The award was motivated by a sound and interesting approach solving track 1 in order to solve track 2, a clear presentation of the approach as well as the performance of the algorithm.
