Lost talent : unrealized educational aspirations and expectations among U.S. youths

L'A. presente un certain nombre de donnees collectees aux Etats-Unis en 1980 concernant l'enseignement secondaire et superieur et etudie le non-developpement de certaines aptitudes dans le cadre du systeme scolaire. Il examine les variables comme le sexe, la race, l'âge, l'origine sociale et montre que ce phenomene concerne surtout les eleves qui ont des attentes sur le plan educationnel qui ne correspondent pas a leurs aspirations, qui doivent modifier leur projet dans le temps ou qui ne seront pas capables de le realiser
