3D Localization and Vital Sign Detection of Human Subjects with a 120 GHz MIMO Radar

In this paper a highly integrated 120 GHz MIMO radar system is investigated for 3D localization and simultaneous vital sign detection of human subjects. The applied 3D-MIMO imaging and change detection algorithms are presented, and the capability to detect and separate the respiration and heart signal of two human subjects is shown. The proposed algorithms are validated with experimental measurements, demonstrating the potential to utilize this novel MIMO radar system for indoor localization and monitoring applications.
