INCREASING EFFICIENCY OF FREIGHT CARRIERS THROUGH COLLABORATIVE TRANSPORT PLANNING : CHANCES AND CHALLENGES

Facing the pressure on the transportation market, f reight carriers are suggested to exchange customer requests through collaborative transport p lanning for further increment of their profitability. This paper discusses the chances offered by this kind of horizontal collaboration and proposes challenges to meet its successful utilizat ion.
