A hybrid finite element-analytical solutions for inhomogeneously filled shielding enclosures

The analytical solutions of an arbitrary-large rectangular cavity with an aperture, are coupled to the edge-based finite-element method solution of the remaining inhomogeneous part of the problem. This hybrid method (finite elements-analytical solutions) has the advantages of producing a sparse matrix and substantially reducing the number of unknowns. The computer storage and processing time requirements are also reduced. The numerical results of this hybrid method are in agreement with the pure edge-based finite-element method solutions. Measurements were also performed and the results compare favorably with the hybrid solution. The applications considered involve one of the problems that concern the EMC community, namely, the computation of the crosstalk between signal tracks on dielectric boards inside shielded enclosures. >
