An Algebra for an Entity-Relationship Model and its Application to Graphical Query Processing

Algebras for entity-relationship (ER) models have recently begun to emerge. Chen proposed an algebra for a binary ER model with directional relationships [2]. Markowitz and Raz [5] and Parent and Spaccapietra [7] have proposed algebras for ER models that are derived from or patterned after relational algebra. Markowitz and Raz have also proposed a query language, ERROL, based on their algebra [6].
