Twelve Step Control of Brushless DC Motor Sensorless Drive System to Reduce Torque Ripple using Voltage Compensation

This paper presents a brushless DC motor sensorless drive system using a twelve step control. The twelve step control has the two phase excitations and three phase excitations. For the twelve step control, the torque ripple is caused by the conversion section between the three phase excitations and two phase excitations. The torque ripple generates a mechanical vibration and acoustic noise. To solve the problem, this paper proposes a voltage compensation control to reduce the torque ripple. The simulation and experimental results verify that the proposed control can reduce the torque ripple significantly.
