Twelve pulse parallel rectifier with a new topology for the output low-pass filter

Twelve pulse parallel rectifiers provided with interphase reactors and passive LC output low-pass filters, designed to minimise the input current distortion factor and the output voltage ripple are optimised. A new filter topology is used, where the interphase inductors perform a double function, acting as decoupling reactors and as filter inductors. Adding only three capacitors, it is possible to integrate the output LC filter and the interphase reactors, optimising the rectifier weight, volume and cost. Values for L and C are shown as functions of the minimum current in the continuous mode of operation and of the minimum attenuation specified. Simulation and experimental results are shown.
