Development of a Real-Time Lane Departure Warning System for Driver Assistance

According to World Health Organization’s (WHO) global status report on road safety, the number of road accidents per day is increasing drastically. Majority of these accidents occur due to violation of the safety norms by the drivers. The main objective of this paper is to develop a real-time lane departure warning system based on Beagle board. The proposed system avoids road accidents by giving warning to the driver when the vehicle begins move out of its lane. The developed system is also useful to minimize accidents by addressing the main causes due to drivers error and drowsiness.
