ENERGY-AWARE SENSOR SCHEDULING IN DISTRIBUTED GAUSSIAN DETECTION

In a distributed sensor network, sensor scheduling according to the detection accuracy is a classical signal processing problem. The energy constraint of the remote sensors can not be neglected. In this paper, we consider the sensor scheduling problem for the detection of a stochastic source under limited energy budget. We propose an energy-aware algorithm to deal with the cardinality of selected sensors under energy constraint. The proposed algorithm can extend the detection times of the sensor network while still guaranteeing a pre-defined level of detection accuracy. The proposed energy-aware algorithm is data independent and has linear computational complexity. We illustrate the proposed framework in a Gaussian detection problem. Simulation results validate the proposed algorithm.
