Boundary extraction from coarsely or irregularly scanned images

Abstract An algorithm for extracting boundary lines from coarsely or irregularly scanned images is presented. The algorithm is then applied to manually scanned ultrasound images. The algorithm is based on Gaussian degradation and thresholding. To deal with sector scanned ultrasound images, a space-variant processing technique is used.
