Insight to Double Estimator Technique: The concept of subcarrier aided code tracking

The new Binary Offset Carrier (BOC) modulated signal obtains good frequency compatibility with traditional Binary Phase Shift Keying (BPSK) signal. However, it raises new challenge for receiver design, i.e. a qualified BOC signal tracking method to alleviate the tracking ambiguity. The two-dimension correlation is utilized in Double Estimator Technique (DET) and performs very well. In this paper, we take new insight to the DET from a general formulation of two-dimension correlation and point out the underrated problem existing in DET. To alleviate this problem, we propose a new subcarrier aided code tracking approach. Tracking loop based on the proposed scheme is investigated. The tracking performance of the proposed method with respect to thermal noise is performed using BOCsin(1,1) signal.
