Results Obtained by Minimising Natural-Frequency Errors and Using Physical Reasoning

A finite element model of the GARTEUR SM-AG19 test structure is updated. The philosophy applied in selecting the updating parameters is based on physical understanding, scrutiny of the mode shapes and sensitivity calculations. The ‘corrected’ model is shown not only to accurately reproduce test data used in the updating process, but also to provide results in agreement with test data (not used for updating) from the modified structure.
