Numerical Research on the Application of New Type of Inlet-air Diversion Device in Cooling Tower

Considering the low heat transfer efficiency of the central region in natural-draft cooling tower,this paper proposes an improvement scheme of installing several guide pipes in the rain zone,and calculates for its layout optimal design.Then based on the relative theories of the wet cooling tower,the heat and mass transfer model is constructed in the framework of the Fluent numerical calculation software.The discrete phase model is applied to analyze the flow and thermal characteristics of the circulating cooling water,and simulate the heat transfer process between the air and cooling water inside the cooling tower,emphatically the effects of crosswind on the performance of cooling tower,and the ineffectiveness of heat transfer in the center area.Calculation results show that outlet water temperature can drop 0.6℃ with the application of the new type of inlet-air diversion device in cooling tower.
