Wavelet based analysis of reception level variations in urban mobile communication environment

In mobile communication environments, variations in the reception level are generally modeled based on three components: multi-path fading, shadow fading, and path loss. When extracting variations from measurement data, we must pay attention to the window size in the averaging procedure (and observation range) because characteristics of the extracted variation depend on the window size. However, the appropriate window size is not clear. In this paper, in order to extract precisely (and easily) each variation, we propose a wavelet based analysis, and show the analyzed results based on measurement data in urban macro-cellular environment.
