The Principle of UMAC Time-base Control and Its Application in Diamond Turning of Non-symmetric Micro-structured Surfaces

Considering the high performance and real-time requirement for fabrication system in the process of turning of non-symmetric micro-structured surfaces,the CNC system based on UMAC(Universal Multiple Axis Controller)was designed.A fast tool servo system driven by piezoelectric actuator was mounted on the machine,pushing the diamond tool forth and back at several kHz following the command signal.The rotation of spindle and the movement of fast tool servo were synchronized by using time-base control method of UMAC and the turning of non-symmetric micro-structured surfaces was achieved.
