Mutual Autonomy LFSR Output-Based Cellular Automata (MALO-CA)

Over the past few decades, cellular automata (CA) has become an inseparable aspect of modern computer system. Due to its simplicity, robustness and low complexity, the concept of cellular automata has also been exploited in the field of cryptography. However, most of the previous works done are either insecure or inefficient. This paper presents a novel algorithm of pseudorandom number generator (PRNG) based on the combination of linear feedback shift register (LFSRs) and one-dimensional cellular automata model. The simple design of our algorithm provides a high degree of efficiency in a wide variety of environments, making it highly competitive when compared with other pseudorandom number generator. Relevant experiments are carried out and the statistical results reveal the quality and effectiveness of our pseudorandom generator.
