General Rectangular FishEye Views for 2

This paper describesthe RECTANGULAR FISHEYE V IEW for the combinedpresentation of 2D rasterimages,2D vectorgraphicsandtext. A detailedpresentationof theareaof highestuserinterest(thefocus)is integratedinto alower-detailcontext displayproviding anoverview. Screenspaceis saved by downscaling(distorting)thecontext. Thegeometric layoutof theview is assembledusingrectangular regions. Threedifferentcontext modesareproposed to providefor computational scalability. Performance andquality implicationsof two differentimplementation optionsarecompared.
