A Petri-net representation of the qualitative behaviour of a dynamical continuous-time system

In this paper an approach is presented how a qualitative model of a dynamical continuous-variable system can be set up. The method is based on Petri nets which have been successfully used so far to describe discrete-event systems. Places will be used to represent qualitative states whereas transitions model the qualitative state transitions of the system. The influence of input variables is reflected by labeling the transitions with input conditions. >
