Age Changes of EEG during Photo- and Auditory Low-Frequency Stimulation and Assessment of fatigue

This research aimed to find age changes of electrical activity during photo- and audio-stimulation 2, 4, 8, 16-Hz, most useful in clinical EEG. Young and Old healthy peers participated in our study. We used “cognitive space” construction method to visualize how close/distant these emotional sounds are according to EEG data. We analysed EEG distances to find correlation with accompanying to EEG changes behavioural changes, possibly related to aging. Our results demonstrated that young people had more pronounced EEG response to photo-stimulation compared than elderly persons. EEG changes to auditory stimuli in older persons are better differentiated from each other and correlated with fatigue scores. The parameters of EEG variability (fractal dimension, frequency and standard deviation of envelope and Hjorth Parameters) were higher in older participants.
