A Parallel Hot Strip Mill Simulator for Testing Embedded Real-Time Monitoring System

This paper deals with the development of a simulator that generates the appropiate signals to test and validate high performance monitoring systems for hot strip mills under a controlled environment. The paper begins with an introduction to the model and its objectives. Next the general structure of the model, covering its two working modes is presented, followed by the detailed design of the main subcomponents of the model. After that, a brief description of the input parameters to simulate the hot strip mill of the Integral Siderurgic Corporation and the results obtained is given. Finally, the implementation of the model on a SN9500 machine and the measurement of its computational behavior are shown.
