EXPERIMENTS OF VARIOUS NOZZLE CONFIGURATIONS OF THE EJECTOR COIL

Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) is employed to study ejector nozzles for the 5cm gain COIL device. Cylindrical nozzle array, tab array, and zigzag ramp injector (ZRI) configuration are studied. It is confirmed that the calculated results of former two types are in consistent with the literature. Cylindrical nozzle array type and ZRI type are fabricated and tested. The output power and chemical efficiency of the cylindrical nozzle array type is inferior to the literature. On the other hand, ZRI type ejec tor exhibits good performance. A 507W output power with chemical efficiency of 18.6% is obtained. The total pressure at the end of the optical cavity is measured to be 60Torr.
