Improving accuracy in person lineups and identification via brain-computer interfaces

Person identification is a complex task. Since the results of this task are used in jurisdiction the aim is to enhance the accuracy of person lineups. We do this by analyzing the brain waves and affective states of witnesses. Based on the research in psychology, the new brain-computer-interface (BCI) technology based approach can lead to a major improvement in accuracy and result in a reduction of false positives and false convictions by filtering specific patterns of recognition in electroencephalography (EEG) data.
