This paper reports the results of a study on traffic handling capacity of switching nodes and transmission lines in the circuit and packet switched networks, and on cost evaluation methods for the two types of networks.
The two types of networks were compared by setting various parameters, including the communication density defined in the paper. The comparison results show that there are application regions favorable for each type of network.
