Inthispaper,theproblemofpowercon- trolinwireless systems using adistributed approach is analyzed. Theuplink ofa direct-sequence code-division multiple-access communication(DS-CDMVIA) systemis studiedinthiswork.The powercontrolstrategies are derivedusingclassical designapproaches(PIDand Dead-Beat). Itisconcludedthattheuplinkchannel variations donotdestroy thestability ofthefeedback structures. However, thedelays intheclosed-loop paths canseverely affect thestability andperformance ofthe resulting feedbackschemes.As a result, thecontrol lawshavetobe selected according withtheexpected transmission delays inordertomaximizetheresulting performance. Simulation results arepresented tocom parethecontrol algorithms using astandardsingle-step powercorrection approach.
