Joint scheduling and routing protocol for backbone based MANET's

Packet scheduling has been a very popular paradigm to ensure maximum throughput and bounded delay access for packet flows. This work proposes packet scheduling approach to QOS provisioning in multihop wireless networks. Our scheduling mechanism achieves fair and maximum allocation of the shared wireless channel bandwidth for MANET's that consist of General nodes and Backbone nodes. Backbone nodes are the nodes with large transmission range and more energy. We propose a routing protocol that adopts scheduling strategy for MANETS with backbone nodes. Data is routed through these nodes. We have compared our enhanced protocol with the normal AODV for CBR traffic. Results shows that the quality of the service (QoS) is improved significantly.
