Automated Instructional Design Advising

This chapter describes two different approaches to simplifying the complexities of courseware design. The first approach is called the Guided Approach to Instructional Design Advising (GAIDA). GAIDA provides general instructional design guidance based on Gagne’s (1985) nine events of instruction along with completely worked courseware exemplars to illustrate the guidance. The second approach is called the Experimental Advanced Instructional Design Advisor (XAIDA). XAIDA is more ambitious and offers automated instructional strategies in addition to the more general kind of guidance found in GAIDA.
