Modellierung und Simulation der Kalksteincalcination im Drehofen. Teil 1: Pilot-Drehofen

This article presents a one-dimensional mathematical model for describing and simulating the calcination of limestone in a rotary kiln. The model comprises conventional differential equations derived from the principles of conservation of mass and energy. The model can be used to predict the temperature profiles of the particle bed, the gas phase and the kiln inner wall along the length of the kiln axis. The composition profile of the material bed can also be predicted. The results from the simulation of the calcination behaviour pattern along the axis of a rotary kiln show good agreement with experimental data from a pilot kiln plant.
