Password and Biometric Based Mutual Authentication Technique for 4-G Mobile Communications

Authentication of mobile subscribers and network are a challenge of future researchers due to increasing security threats and attacks with the enhanced volume of wireless traffic. 4G mobile communications system has brought for the high speedy data communications network. In 2-G mobile communications is based on checking the authenticity of MS (Mobile Station or Subscriber) by challenge-response mechanism. Here authenticity is one-way for which MSC (Mobile or Main Switching Center) checks the validity of MS. In 3-G mobile communications employs two different switching techniques, circuit switching and packet switching but 4-G offers only packet switching. Generally high speed data communications is established by packet switching technique through SGSN servers. In this paper, we propose a mutual authentication technique that verifies the authenticity of the subscriber as well as the network by subscriber's password and biometric property. We focus on the advantages of our proposed technique, termed as password and biometric based mutual authentication technique.
