Development and Application of Integrated Calibration Software for the HP Laser Interferometer

This work details a method of calibrating a 3 axis machining centre, and optimising the accuracy of the calibration captured. This data can be used to automatically generate linear compensation data, for the compensation scheme offered by the machine tool controller. Computer processing is extensively used for the rapid assessment of machine tool errors, and the programming of the machine tool controller to enable it to perform the necessary compensation.
