Comparison of Different Methods to Estimate Blood Oxygen Saturation using PPG

Continuous measurement of blood oxygen saturation (SpO2) is essential for the patients who have medical conditions that can reduce the amount of oxygen in their blood. Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, asthma, pneumonia, lung cancer, anemia, heart failure, heart attack are examples of these conditions. Photoplethysmography (PPG) is commonly used technique to measure the SpO2 and many researchers have developed SpO2 measurement models based on the PPG signal. In our study, we have collected PPG signals from 35 healthy subjects and considered three SpO2 estimation models from the recent studies to estimate the SpO2 from the PPG signal. We have also presented a comparison analysis of estimating the blood oxygen saturation (SpO2) using the considered methods.
