Technological Implications in the Development and Modelling of the Intellectual Capital

This paper investigates the intellectual capital of the organizations and its implications for organizational performance using information technology. Intellectual capital is the organizational knowledge that contributes to adding extra value to the organization and to the development of competitive advantage. First, the study analysed the theoretical concept of intellectual capital and its implications. Second, the study investigates the existing tools for evaluation of intellectual capital. For several years development of IT tools supporting intellectual capital evaluation, especially the concept of Balanced Scorecard (BSC) have been observed. Analysing this need, the authors propose a platform for evaluating the intellectual capital of the organization. In this paper it is made a comprehensive review of the literature, there are presented the functionalities of the evaluation platform and modelling of the evaluation process using UML diagrams.
