Firstly, this paper will describe the fundamental study on water-soluble polymers and polymeric superplasticizers which are appropriate to non-dispersible underwater concrete. Through several laboratory tests carried out on those additives, the most suitable combination of a water-soluble polymer and a superplasticizer for non-dispersible underwater concrete was found out. Taking these results into account, an admixture called aklith 12 for non-dispersible underwater concrete was formulated. Secondly, the outlines of non-dispersible underwater concrete called joiluc containing the admixture and superplasticizer mentioned above will be described. Furthermore details of its typical retarding property which is indispensable for practical application to massive concrete will be explained. Thirdly, a description will be given of the large-scale test that was carried out to examine the flowability and the qualities of joiluc when it was allowed to flow over a long distance. Through the results, an allowable maximum space interval between tremie pipes was clarified so far as prescribed qualities were assured. For the covering abstract of this congress see IRRD 814075.
