Fabrication and characterization of femtosecond laser direct written volume diffractive optical elements in fused silica

We have demonstrated femtosecond laser direct written volume diffractive optical elements in a fused silica. The fabrication of a built-in coupler consisting of a direct written waveguide and a Fresnel lens has been described.
