A channel repertoire for TVRO satellite viewers

In a survey of 227 viewers with television‐receive‐only satellite systems, the authors learned that most limited their viewing to a repertoire of fewer than eight channels. Although the majority of channel choices were satellite transponders, more than half of the respondents watched local television during the week. Transponders chosen came primarily from two satellites. The authors conclude that these choices may be a function of hardware limitations rather than channel loyalty.
