Two mud turtles (Kinosternon subrubrum) that moved away from a Carolina bay in South Carolina were located and found to spend the winter on land burrowed 2-11 cm below the surface. Over- land movement ceased in November although vertical movement in the burrow continued through Decem- ber. Turtles commenced moving in early March when temperatures exceeded 21 C.
