HISTO-IN SITU HYBRIDIZATION USING IN VIVO METABOLICALLY-LABELED BROMODEOXYURIDINE DNA PROBES AND APPLICATION TRIAL FOR PATHOLOGICAL DIAGNOSIS

(rDNA) on rat chromosome #3, 11, and 12 and in 1982, abnormal distribution patterns of rDNA probably related to carcinogenesis were analyzed in rat and mouse leukemias (12, 21, 28). We also clarified that in normal Japanese individuals, no distinct polymorphism of rDNA distribution pattern might be observed, probably due to racial differences, although their interindividual polymorphism had been reported in the U.S.A. (15). In 1981, Harper & Saunders and other 2 groups reported improved methods to detect single copy genes on chromosomes (6, 9, 17). Then the localization on chromosomes of many oncogenes and other single copy genes were reported for the recently. In this symposium, a new method using in vivo metabolically-labeled bromodeoxyuridine (BrdU) probes is first presented and several trials for its application to pathological diagnosis are reported.
