Hiperparatiroidismo primario: Abordaje con cirugía de invasión mínima

El hiperparatiroidismo primario (HPTP) es una patologia que ha sido detectada mas frecuentemente en las ultimas decadas, debido a mediciones de calcio y fosforo sericos en pruebas sanguineas rutinarias. Los pacientes comunmente estan asintomaticos o tienen sintomas muy inespecificos. La mayoria de los casos de HPTP se deben a un adenoma de alguna de las glandulas paratiroides. La cirugia tradicional involucraba la busqueda de las cuatro glandulas para identificar el adenoma causante de la enfermedad. Con el advenimiento de estudios de medicina nuclear para detectar el posible sitio del adenoma, el ultrasonido y las tecnicas de cirugia de minima invasion, el HPTP puede ser curado en la actualidad con procedimientos seguros, libres de complicaciones y con estancia hospitalaria y costos reducidos. Se presenta la experiencia de los autores al operar 22 casos de HPTP con tecnicas de invasion minima en un periodo de 10 anos y se analizan las lecciones aprendidas en el manejo de esta patologia a la luz de los adelantos en el diagnostico y tratamiento actual
