A novel 24-GHz series-fed patch antenna array for radar system

A novel 24-GHz patch series-fed antenna array is presented for radar system. It consists of an 8×8 transmitting antenna array and two 8×4 co-aperture receiving antenna arrays, which can not only achieve good suppression of side lobes and high aperture efficiency, but also avoid ambiguity in angle measurement. The simulated results show that the gains of the transmitting and the receiving antenna arrays are respectively 20.9dBi and 15.9dBi, while the suppressions of side lobes in two planes are both over 20dB.
