Dimensional Dynamics Identification of Reconfigurable Machine Tools

The paper presents a new method of dimensional dynamics online identification to be used for the dimensional control of reconfigurable machining systems. This dimensional control is designed to be adaptive and predictive. The dimensional control of the reconfigurable machining system is a key action in achieving the desired quality of a final product. Since a decrease in deviation usually results in higher costs, the deviation compensation would be a better solution for improving the process accuracy. Deviation compensation occurring during the machining process requires a model that is able to describe the dimensional dynamics of a machining system, which stands for the relationship between the dimensional changing of part being machined and the process parameters. On the other hand, the machining system behavior is changing significantly in time even when a small number of parts are processed. This is the reason why dimensional dynamics must reveal the changing in time of the parts dimensional variation–process parameters relationship.
