Abstract Information coding and protection systems using multifaceted holographic optical elements afford parallel coding and a high degree of protection against forgery, unwarranted copying, or access to coded information. In this paper, an identification system utilizing these holographic elements is proposed and demonstrated. The number of discrete elements producible is examined.
