Improving Semantic Interoperability with Ontology Alignment Negotiation and Reutilization

Following the results achieved during our previous research, which demonstrated the importance of using adequate ontology alignments during agents' communications, we have proposed a new approach for ontology alignment negotiation where, rather than selecting (and negotiating) the ontology alignment to be used, business agents will also be allowed to negotiate the alignment composition itself. With this approach, we aim to promote not only the reutilization of existent ontology alignments, but also their combination, allowing achieving more adequate or complete alignments. On the other hand, the involvement of the business agents in the ontology alignment composition process allows excluding irrelevant correspondences, leading to more adequate alignments as well as a more accurate and trustful evaluation of their performance. In this paper we present the implementation of such approach as well as some preliminary results.
